This month’s entry of TCS on PCT is a Pentax SLR special. For some reason, I encountered a several Pentax SLRs within the same week. It’s strange- I don’t seem to see as many SLRs as I do rangefinders and compacts- but suddenly, a bunch of Pentaxes. I wonder why? Maybe has some karmic-something to do with the film camera talk coming from Ricoh / Pentax? 

 

今月のTokyo Film Camera Styleは意図せぬうちに「ペンタックス特集」になりました。理由はよくわかりませんが、なぜかこの1週間でペンタックスの一眼レフとたくさん出会いました。ペンタックスが新しいフィルムカメラを出すという噂のおかげかな…？ 本当だったらぜひ見たいです！

On a street corner in Yanaka I met a young couple, each with a Pentax SLR around their necks. I like this simplicity- “one lens one camera” is enough.

 

谷中の街角で、ペンタックスを持っていた若いカップルと出会いました。このシンプルさが好き。「シンプル」というのは「やっぱりこのカメラには、このセットしかない！」という潔さです、かっこいいね。

PENTAX KX + SMC PENTAX 55mm F1.8

 

A few days later, at a gallery talk event , a fellow guest had this Pentax KX with a 55mm 1.8 lens on him. Talk event; Mitsugu Onishi and Masakazu Murakami (Sha Shin Magazine)

 

そしてその数日間後、大西みつぐ先生が展覧会をしているギャラリー（KKAG）で行われた雑誌『写真』編集長の村上仁一さんとのトークイベントで、またもやペンタックス一眼レフを発見しました。これはペンタックスKXと55mmレンズのセットです。

PENTAX ME?

 

At the same event, I saw this Pentax ME, seen in the hands of editor Masakazu Murakami.

 

同じイベントで、この少し不思議なペンタックスMEを見つけました。ギャラリーのものらしいのですが「映える」ので、村上仁一さんに持ってもらいました。

 

Obviously, it’s non-functional- well, as a camera, anyway. As a metal container to store coins, it cannot be beat (by a *real* Pentax.)  Getting one’s savings out is easy- “lens” is removable. These banks were produced by Yodobashi Camera in the late 1970s- in fact, the lyrics to the Yodobashi Camera theme song are inscribed on the bottom plate.  (They also made a Nikon F2 version, as well.)

Since the ME is a fairly small camera, I don’t think that the total amount of yen you could fit in it would be very much.  A Pentax 67 bank though, THAT could hold a LOT more money.

Anyway, these banks are cute.

I don’t need it but kind of want one.  That’s a common sentiment (and oft-said line) in the world of camera gear…

 

 

ご覧のとおり「本物」ではありません。撮影をできる機能がありませんが「コインを保存」する機能はあります。そう、これは貯金箱です。ちなみに、小銭を取り出す必要がある場合は「レンズ」を外して簡単に出せます。かわいいでしょう。

 

実は、これは1978年にヨドバシカメラで作られたものだそうです。貯金箱の底面には、ヨドバシカメラのテーマソングの歌詞が書いてあります。ネットで調べてみたところ、同じシリーズにニコンF2の貯金箱もあるらしいです。いらないけど、ちょっとほしい…。カメラの世界はこういう気持ちってよくありますよね？
