2023 marked the fifteenth year of Tokyo Camera Style. Despite price increases and everything else, people are still enjoying film photography- and doing so with some interesting cameras.

 

2023年、「東京カメラスタイル」は15年目を迎えました！

フィルムの価格高騰にもかかわらず、まだまだフィルムカメラを楽しんでいる人々はたくさんいますね。最近出会ったカメラをご紹介します。

 

 

1.

Nikon FM2 + AUTO TAMRON 28mm F2.8

（Shinjuku）

 

At my exhibition in November a visitor showed up with her Nikon FM2- and matching sweatshirt. She told me she changed half of her Nikon’s leather covering to this fuzzy, pink leopard fabric when she was in photo school some twenty years ago. Now that’s camera style.

 

11月に開催した私の写真展の会場に、ニコンFM2とペアルックのスウェットシャツを着たお客さんが現れました。彼女は20年ほど前、写真学校に通っていた頃に、ニコンのレザーカバーの半分をこのモコモコしたピンクのヒョウ柄に変えたのだと言っていました。やっぱりこれこそカメラスタイル！

Contax T3 70th Anniversary

Leica M6 + Summicron-M 50mm F2

（TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2023）

 

I saw a lot of other photographers at this year’s Tokyo Art Book Fair. This 35mm combo belonged to a young woman from China.  The Contax T3 is the Contax 70th anniversary model. Her Leica M6 had a classic 50mm F2 Summicron.

 

今年の「東京アートブックフェア」では、面白いカメラを持っていた人と出会いました。この35mmコンビは中国から来た若い女性のものです。 コンタックスT3はコンタックス70周年記念モデル。ライカM6にはクラシックなズミクロンM 50mm F2が装着されていました。いいね。

Nikon FE + Nikkor-O Auto 35mm F2

（Ueno Park）

 

On a recent walk in Ueno park I met two men with some nice gear. One had a Nikon FE with a 35mm F2 lens. Perfection.

 

この間、上野公園を散歩したとき、素敵な機材を持った2人の男性に出会いました。

一人はニコンFEに35mm F2のレンズを付けていました。なかなかいいね。

 

 


The other had this Pentax 67.  Look closely- notice anything different?

もう一人がこのPentax 67を持っていました。よーく見てみてください、何かが違いますね…。

Pentax 67 + Hasselblad Carl Zeiss Planar T* 110mm F2

（Ueno Park）

 

That’s a Hasselblad 110mm F2 Planar lens! 

なんとレンズはハッセルのプラナーなんです！

 

That’s right, this Pentax was customized to a Hasselblad mount. 

I don’t know how many Pentax 67s were customized like this but it can’t be many. And to randomly encounter one on the street?  Fifteen years of doing Tokyo Camera Style and I am still regularly (and thankfully) surprised by what’s out there.

 

このペンタックス67は、ハッセルブラッドのマウントにカスタマイズされていたのです。このようにカスタマイズされたペンタックス67が何台あるかは知りませんが、そう多くはないでしょう。しかも街で偶然出会うとは......。東京カメラスタイルを始めて15年、私はいまだ世の中にあるものとの出会いに驚かされています。

 

I had my Leica M2 around my neck during this encounter-   the man with the Pentax 67 told me he had a Leica in his backpack.  

 

その午後、私はライカM2を首から下げていました。ペンタックス67を持っていた男性は、鞄にライカも入れていると言っていました。


A few seconds later he showed me…

そして鞄から出てきたのは…

 

5.

Leica M7 + Summilux-M 35mm F1.4 'Steel Rim'

（Ueno Park）

 

…Leica M7 with a Leica 35mm F1.4 Summilux Steel Rim – with goggles- AND the OLLUX lens hood. Wow. 

 

ライカM7と、非常にレアなズミルックスM 35mm F1.4の初期型モデル「スチールリム」でした。すごい…。
