東京の写真展を新しい形で発見するアプリケーション「Community」がリリースされた。

日本では、これまで写真展の情報をギャラリーで配布されるポストカードや招待状から知るのが一般的だった。しかし、一日に複数のギャラリーを回るルートを考えたり、開館・閉館時間を確認したり、訪問先の近くで他にどんな展示があるかを調べるのは簡単ではない。さらに、日本語が分からない来訪者にとっては、ギャラリーの場所を見つけること自体が大きなハードルになる。

 

Traditionally, people in Japan learn about photo exhibitions through postcards and gallery invitations.

But it’s often difficult to know how to combine several visits in one day, check opening and closing hours, or find out what’s happening near the gallery you plan to visit. For those who don’t speak Japanese, simply locating galleries or understanding exhibition details can be a real challenge.

 

こうした課題に応えるために誕生したのが、Community（コミュニティ）。
 
このアプリは、東京に点在する多様な写真ギャラリー――大規模な美術館から小さなアーティストランスペースまで――をひとつにまとめる新しいモバイルアプリだ。アプリでは、現在開催中および今後開催予定の展示を簡単に閲覧でき、人気、まもなく終了、最終日といった便利なタグが表示される。

 

また、「ライブマップ」機能では、現在東京で開かれているすべての展示が地図上に表示され、近くのギャラリーを簡単に見つけることができる。今後開催される展示を見つけた場合はブックマークを付けるだけで、展示の開始時や終了が近づいたときに通知を受け取ることができ、見逃すことがない。

In response to these challenges, Community was created — a new mobile app that brings together Tokyo’s diverse world of photo galleries, from major institutions to small artist-run spaces.

The app allows users to browse both current and upcoming exhibitions, with useful visual tags such as Popular, Closing Soon, or Last Day. It also features a Live Map, showing all exhibitions currently open in Tokyo — making it incredibly easy to discover what’s nearby.

If you find an exhibition that starts in the future, you can simply bookmark it, and the app will notify you when it begins — or when it’s about to end — so you won’t miss it.

 

さらに「カレンダー表示」では、ブックマークした展示をエリアや時間帯ごとに自動で整理し、当日の開館時間も考慮して複数のギャラリーを効率よく巡るルートを提案してくれる。また、各ギャラリーや写真家ごとに専用ページがあり、最新情報をフォローすることも可能。これ以外にも紹介しきれないほど多くの機能が備わっている。

 

A Calendar view automatically arranges bookmarked exhibitions by time and district, even matching gallery opening hours for the current day to help users plan visits to several galleries in one day.
The app also offers dedicated pages for each gallery and photographer, allowing users to follow their updates — and much more that’s hard to list in full.

 

Communityアプリの開発者であるランボフスキー・ドミトリーさんは次のように語る。

• Communityは、現在東京で開催されているすべての写真展の情報を集約するだけでなく、言語・ナビゲーション・時間といった従来の障壁を取り除き、誰もが自分の“心を動かす展示”を選び、自然にギャラリーへ導かれるような体験をしてほしいと思っています。

•  I would like Community, which brings together information on all photo exhibitions currently happening in Tokyo, to also remove — in many ways — the usual barriers of language, navigation, and time, allowing anyone to simply choose what inspires them, and the app will guide them to the show.

 

現在、約80のギャラリーが掲載されており、今後さらに20以上のギャラリーが追加予定。アプリは英語・中国語・韓国語にも対応しており、現在iPhone版が利用可能。Android版も開発中。

 

With around 80 galleries already included, and more than 20 to be added soon, Community continues to expand. The app supports English, Chinese, and Korean, and is currently available for iPhone, with an Android version in development.
